Beschreibung:
Colebrook argues that the postmodern notion of social construction through discourse, along with recent post-Lacanian criticisms of postmodernism, are still forms of subjectivism. In both cases there is still a point of constitution or genesis that accounts for the System of differences, including gender difference. Following Deleuze and Guattari, she uses the concepts of immanence and univocity to argue for a positive account of sexual difference. Taking univocity seriously necessitates a new understanding of literary style. She concludes, therefore, by looking at the consequences of a theory of sexual difference for literature and modernist aesthetics.
