Beschreibung:
Taking as a starting point a poem addressed by Ingeborg Bachmann to the Italian communists, the essay attempts to outline some basic features of the author's political thinking. An examination shows that Bachmann demands a re-activation of the emotional element which, as a result of the Nazi misuse of it, had sunk into disrepute without in any way dispensing with the rational dimension of political debate. Her ideal is a fusion of physical response, intensity of sympathy, and ideological commitment which she may well have found in Pier Paolo Pasolini. From this it follows that in Ingeborg Bachmann's view, political actions can only be valid when they are guided by a not instrumental rationality and the principle of humanity
