Beschreibung:
Jus Suffragii, the monthly organ of the world's women's movement, covered every aspect of women's lives before, during and after World War One. Its editor, the pacifist socialist feminist, Mary Sheepshanks, succeeded in gathering and disseminating women's news from and to the women fo belligerent states via neutral throughout the war. For focusing on the insanity of war, its fundamental causes and the problems of international reconstruction, she was fircely critised as a pacifist by patriotic suffrage leaders and defended by others. The controversy in the correspondence columns of Jus Suffragii 1915-16 highlights the divisions between early twentieth-century feminists concerning the aims of suffrage and the internationalism of an international movement
