| At the beginning of the third millenium questions of power in gender relations still belong to those central subjects in political theory and practise which are not solved. So the end of patriarchy is a powerful illusion of emancipation. This utopian element of feminist thinking and politics is discussed by relating to the work of Italian women from the Milan's Bookstore Collective. These women's vision of the end of patriarchy is both symbolically important for subjective constructions of realities and political practise, and it has social and material relevance as the author shows by connecting this vision with some ideas of the tehrory of reflexive modernization. Finally the author argues that the disapperance of patriarchy corresponds with the disapperance of feminism. In contrast to the italian thinkers she points out that end of patriarchy only could be realized in connection with a postcapitalist social order | |
