Beschreibung:
Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin province is the largest settlement of Chinese Koreans in China. The floating population surveillance survey conducted by the National Population and Family Planning Commission in 2011 suggested that 47 percent of Chinese Korean out-migrants are women. The results of the binary logistic regression show that married women aged 20-59, with higher educational levels and agricultural household registration status, are more likely to migrate. A multinomial logistic regression indicates that household category does not play a significant role in out-migration. Furthermore, women aged between 20 and 59 with higher educational levels are more likely to choose South Korea as their destination, while married women and women with no formal education are more likely to move to other provinces in China. This paper also discusses the social and economic impact of out-migration (of Chinese Korean females) on the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture.
