| This study examines the role of institutions in the Arab region to the global women, peace and security agebda inspires by Security Council resolution 1325 (2000), which affirmed that gender equality and the empowerment of women are central to global peace and secuity, and vice versa. It was followed by othe Security Council resolutions on preventing gender-based violence, prosecuting its perpetratorsand protecting women in times of peace and conflict. The debate in the region on women, peace and security has intensified since 2011. | |
