| In this paper, I have attempted to put forth various kinds of violence and violation that lesbian, bisexual women and transmen (LBT persons) are subjected to in the predominant heteronormative and heterosexist socio-cultural context of India. Unlike their gender conforming and heterosexual counterparts, LBT persons are doubly marginalized because of their non-conformist gender behavior as well as their sexual preferences. Further, I have suggested that such violence and violation could be addressed through a collective struggle that goes beyond identity-based politics and embraces issue-based politics. | |
